Win Butler, líder de la banda indie rock Arcade Fire, ha dado un anuncio a través de la cuenta oficial del grupo en instagram. Se trata de una carta de tres páginas en las que, en esencia, nos relata que están trabajando en un nuevo proyecto juntos.

First of all, I’m sorry if at any time, I have taken for granted the incredible privilege it has been to perform for you and have you engage and listen to our music.

On the eve of my 40th birthday, I find myself reflecting on my last big birthday; turning 30 (both excellent times to reflect). We were in Austin completing vocals and finishing touches on “The Suburbs”. Will, Spike and I had been intensely working on the script that would become “Scenes from the Suburbs.” Trying to finish a record that was so intensely personal was overwhelming. I didn’t even have the energy to celebrate, but we still went to a little Tex Mex place (definitely my death row cuisine of choice?) I remember sitting in the fake leather booth, barely able to speak because of mental exhaustion, my true friends scattered all over the world and no where in sight, and thinking “It feels pretty great to be here at 30.” I was doing challenging work, with amazing band mates, making music I felt inspired by and driven to complete.

I’m happy to report that at 40, I’m still pretty much in the same zone!!

La banda ganadora del grammy por Mejor Álbum en 2011 con The Suburbs, trama algo y parece que a todos los fans nos encanta la idea. Con cinco álbumes lanzados desde 2004, los músicos de Arcade Fire han demostrado con su talento y compromiso que el lenguaje de la música no tiene fronteras. Con una visión innovadora y atrevida, se han sumado a una búsqueda musical que se entrelaza con los proyectos individuales de cada uno de ellos. 

Cada uno con sus carreras musicales, han trazado la ruta de lo que el mundo contemporáneo aborda y busca en las ondas vibratorias que supone la música. Esto queda completamente consolidado en la estética sonora y narrativa de la banda. 

Antes de que te ilusiones de más, te decimos que no se trata de un muy próximo lanzamiento. Sin embargo, es un hecho que algo en camino llegará “eventualmente (no muy pronto)”, según la carta. 

El líder de la banda, afirma que lo que están trabajando se siente muy apropiado para este momento: "Habíamos estado explorando muchos temas líricos y musicales que se sienten casi misteriosamente relacionados con lo que está sucediendo ahora", menciona. Además, existen también señales que ya hay una canción llamada “Age of Anxiety”, y bueno, de ser así parece que se tratará del himno de toda una generación o hasta de una época misma.

Agrega que, "aunque esta crisis finalmente puede cambiar o destruir aspectos de la industria de la música, creo que solo fortalecerá la música como una forma de arte. Nunca se ha sentido más esencial, espiritual e irremplazable… una iglesia que vive en el aire entre la fuente y tus oídos". 

Incluso sin fecha próxima de lanzamiento, es un hecho que este nuevo material ya nos tiene a la expectativa de las próximas noticias que puedan darnos estos músicos. Para concluir esta carta a los fans, también mencionan que no se cierran a la posibilidad de realizar una presentación streaming para aquellos que quieran gozar de su música, pero tampoco prometió nada. Habrá que estar pendientes y mientras disfrutar de cada uno de sus cinco álbumes de estudio.

Post 3/3 @arcadefire For my part, I’m pouring my heart, soul and all of my precious time into the music and recording. (Not closing the door on doing some online performances, but it feels like many artists have that covered;) But talk to me in August when we are all climbing the walls...consider that a song request Radiohead ? ) 
When you listen to the music that’s coming (...eventually...not soon…if you don’t have patience by now, you definitely aren’t reading this), you will know what we were working on under quarantine.
